Christianity has played a major role in the world. Its influence has helped shaped the world as we know it. Depending on which side of the isle you are on will determine if you say it has been for the better or worst. Exactly what is Christianity and why is there so many versions? These are questions I will be looking into moving forward. I was raised in Christianity and I have done a lot of research into this religion. I will admit that I have grown away from the faith. There are some good teachings in this religion. However, the horrors that have been done and continue to be done in the name of this faith prevent me from staying with this faith. Before you get upset, please hear me out and take a journey with me through the history of Christianity. We will explore this faith from its pre-existence up to today's multi-denominational culture.
Christians believe that Jesus Christ was the Son of God – fully human and fully divine – and that through believing in him and following his teachings they can inherit eternal life. Christians believe that Jesus died for humanity, that God raised him from the dead, and that Jesus will come again at the end of time. In addition, Christians believe in the Trinity, or the three parts of God: God the Father or Creator, God the Son (Jesus) or Redeemer, and God the Holy Spirit or Sanctifier. The Holy Spirit is God's presence in the world.
The essence of Jesus' teaching comes from his summary of the Jewish law he grew up with found in Mathew 22:37-40.
Love God with all your heart, soul & mind
Love your neighbor as yourself
Now, despite Jesus summarizing the entire 613 laws, most Christians insist they must still follow the 10 commandments set forth by Moses.
1.
Worship no other God but me
2.
Don't make images to worship
3.
Don't misuse the name of God
4.
Observe the Sabbath Day Keep it Holy
5.
Honor & Respect your father & mother
6.
Don't murder
7.
Don't commit adultery
8.

9.
Don't accuse anyone falsely
10.
Don't crave what belongs to your neighbors
Christianity being the religion of my family. I have a lot of material on this religion. I suppose the best starting point is with the question that really started me on my journey to really understand Christianity and consequentially drive me away from it.
